Food Events – AZ Beer Week

By Adam Green

Arizona Beer Week is a wonderful time in our state. All around you will find breweries and bars highlighting the magic that is beer, with special tap takeovers, new releases and stuff you generally don’t find too easily.

But while we all love drinking delicious beer (because it’s delicious), we also don’t mind some good food to go along with it.

It is for that reason we are providing a list of some of the best places to go for brews and bites during Arizona Beer Week, which runs from Feb. 8 to Feb. 17.

Feb. 8

OHSO – Donut Daze

If you are a fan of donuts and beer, check out any of OHSO’s Valley locations for a take on both. The tap list includes donut-inspired beers, ranging from Maple bar and Apple Fritter to Cinnamon Roll and Chocolate Glazed. Paired with delectable donuts, and your start to beer week will certainly be sweet.

Barrio – Brewmaster’s Chili Special

The popular spot in the Old Pueblo will be offering a cup of beer chili, with the beef version having been made with Rojo and a turkey version made with their Blonde to go with your beer.

Four Peaks – Girl Scout Cookie & Beer Pairing

It is exactly as the name suggests, and it’s magical. Make sure you get your tickets to hit up either the Wilson Tasting Room or the Scottsdale location as Four Peaks will be pairing a handful of their beers – including some you may not have seen for a bit – with the cookies you will surely not get enough of this season.

Feb 9

Hungry Monk – Hopslam, Black Note and Donuts

For morning people, the Chandler spot is offering a chance to get your hops with a side of stout and donuts. The beer breakfast runs from 7-11 a.m.

Dragoon – Fiesta Friday

I mean, who doesn’t like salsa? No one, that’s who. The Tucson brewery will have eight beers on tap while you bring your salsa to be judged. If yours is the best, prizes and bragging rights are in your future.

Local Jonny’s – Taps + Tacos

For those in the North Valley, San Tan’s Night of the Living Red and Moonjuice IPA will be on draft, and they will be paired with tacos. It costs just 10 bucks for a pint and a pair of tacos.

Feb. 10 (for the non-Strong Beer Festival crowd)

Historic Brewing Company – 2018 Bear Arms Imperial Stout & S’Morse Release

The annual release of the popular Bear Arms will be accompanied by S’Mores for those up in the lovely pines of Flagstaff.

Sentinel Peak Brewing Company – Crawfish Boil & Jackie’s Wedding Beer Release

Head to Tucson for the wonderful combination that is beer and a boil. Sentinel Peak will be releasing Jackie’s Wedding Beer, a hazy wheat beer flavored with orange peel, coriander and black pepper. Combined with a crawfish boil, and your day is made.

Feb. 11

Granite Mountain Brewing – Pairing Party with Barley Hound GastroPub

If special strong beers and delicious food are your thing, Prescott should be in your Sunday plans. Your ticket will get you four beer samples as every beer provided will be paired with a food item from Barley Hound kitchen.

Feb. 15

Beer Research Institute – Bacon and Beer Pairing

Two of the greatest gifts known to man will be offered at the popular Mesa brewery, as BRI will be serving four portions of craft bacon along with four 8 oz. pours of some of their beers.

Feb. 18

The Casual Pint – Beer & Cereal Pairing & Kill the Keg

The Central Phoenix location will be giving you a chance to finish off what’s left from their Founders takeover, while at noon provide a beer and cereal pairing. Prizes will be offered all day, too.
