What do you get when you start brewing in your garage with the help of your kids? Well, fast forward 30 years and you have Goldwater Brewing. That’s right, 30 years. Hopefully that can paint a picture of how far ahead Dillon & Chad are on the curve, thanks to their dad Greg. Goldwater is the first brewery in Old Town Scottsdale to brew on site. When you have a brewery just passing the 2-year mark that possesses 30+ years of brewing experience be prepared to witness history.

Which brings me to the first 16oz can release by Goldwater, Crimson Clouds Southwest Hazy IPA. For those of you who may not know, this beer was made earlier in the year and was the fastest beer to tap out at the brewery. So, by popular demand they have decided to make it their first 16oz can release. This hazy beauty comes in at 6.3% ABV, loaded with tropical/ripe hops, giving you a flowing flavor of fresh peach, juicy honeydew melon, passionfruit, and ripe mango. Pouring a red opaque color, this beer delivers the perfect amount of 100% prickly pear fruit, leaving your palate speechless and begging for another sip. The mouthfeel of this beer finishes soft and juicy with notes of sweet pear and a touch of melon rind bitterness to balance this beer to pear-fection.

After wiping the drool from your mouth, clear that calendar of yours and get to Goldwater on December 22nd, as the Valley of the Sun is about to witness a beautiful piece of history with this 16oz can being released in 4-pks. Remember, all of Goldwater’s beer is brewed on site so you will be tasting the freshest, juiciest version of this beautiful brew. It’s time to hop on the haze train because Christmas has come early, ladies and gentlemen.

I wanted to write this article to help spread the word on a great beer release but more importantly I wanted to give credit where credit is due. Goldwater Brewing will be a household name here in Arizona, and nationwide, before you can say “Crimson Clouds.” Not many breweries can accomplish what they’ve done in 2 years’ time. I’ll save you the hassle of scrolling through Yelp reviews to find which brewery you want to check out this weekend and easily direct you to Goldwater Brewing for your weekend drink jaunt. This brewery is far enough away from the chaos of the bar/club scene of Old Town Scottsdale that it holds its own environment that will draw any craft beer drinker in for a pint or two and will have you making excuses to stay longer. Goldwater has introduced itself to the world and now it’s time to introduce the world to Goldwater.
