The “Perfect Fish Taco” in the Desert? Yes!!
The perfect fish taco in a beautiful Arizona desert (when Scottsdale’s closest ocean is 223 miles away at Puerto Penasco, Mexico), yes when the original Coconuts Fish Cafe is transplanted from Maui! The Scottsdale location is owned by Kim Kuhljuergen. Kim brought it to Arizona from Maui and he is a licensee for the state of Arizona. According to Zagat, their fish tacos are “the perfect fish tacos”, and we surely agree!
After being asked by a number of our readers to get in and try these fish tacos, we submitted to your worthy request. These incredible fish tacos come 2 to an order and made with their 17 ingredients, including grilled Ono and Mahi Mahi, white corn tortilla, organic tomato salsa, cheese, house made salsa and mango salsa. And thank god for the double layer of tortillas, otherwise this fish taco would be a lap taco. We were also treated to their Coconut Shrimp and a tantalising Thai Chili Pineapple sauce. An absolute must pair for your fish taco experience.
So if you live in Scottsdale and have yet to try these amazing fish tacos, now you know your civic duty. If you’re from another part of the valley but get to Scottsdale (Scottsdale Rd and Frank Lloyd Wright) every so often (or for the Phoenix Open in a few short weeks), make sure Coconut’s is on the agenda for things to do!
You can’t mess with perfection (or Texas), so when you find it and can…eat it!
