Earnest, the Chandler restaurant formerly known as Cork, is finally what the owners had intended their eatery to be: a neighborhood hang-out.
With all the acclaim Cork received came a hard-to-shake misperception that the restaurant was only for special occasions. Danielle Morris, Earnest’s co-owner and pastry chef says the rebranding came out of necessity to appeal to a broader audience – – and by the lively crowd early on a Friday night, it seems to be working.
Now the menu includes familiar fare with unique twists. The scallop-tuna casserole is a dressed up version of a comfort food favorite with tuna confit, tabasco onions and a seared scallop on top. Another highlight is the soft boiled egg, rolled in panko and deep fried – – filling and fantastic!
Cork was always known for its decadent desserts. Earnest is no different, though the attention now is on “made to order” like freshly baked cookies and spun to order ice cream. The cinnamon bread pudding is definitely worth the 15 minute wait.
